Christmas Miracle #19

Kiera, estranged from her own parents for a while and living with grandparents, found out she was pregnant earlier this year. Kiera has managed to find her own apartment with basic furnishings and is working on stabilizing a solid relationship with her boyfriend, so that together – they can raise their newborn baby boy. On top of this, she is working as hard as she can to do well in school so she can apprentice in the Auto Body program at NAIT next fall.

Kiera’s Christmas Miracle would help her create a better home for her and her baby. Most importantly, she hopes to visit her elderly grandparents in Manitoba, so they can meet their beautiful great grandson Marcus.

Christmas Miracle #18

Lauren is a low-income single mom, who struggles with the pain of fibromyalgia. Unpredictable bouts of pain prevent her from securing a stable job, which puts a financial strain on taking care and providing basic necessities for her two children.

Her oldest child has learning disabilities that Lauren also struggles with as well, and both of them have a tough time getting through school work together. Her youngest son requires constant attention, and Lauren finds it difficult to find balance in taking care of both children and her own medical issues.

A Christmas miracle for Lauren would include a bicycle and chariot take her son to his medical appointments and get both children to school. As well, Lauren would appreciate support in creating a comfortable home for her family, and a fun enjoyable life for her kids.

Christmas Miracle #17

Mikayla is a single mom, who is bravely struggling to take care of 3 children on her own. Even after her partner left her while she was pregnant with her youngest child, Mikayla refuses to give up on herself or her family. She’s taken the steps to upgrade her education in order to get a better job, so she can continue to provide for her 2 boys and little girl, with all her love.

Mikayla’s Christmas Miracle would provide her with the ability to be the best version of herself, in order to be the best mother for her boys – aged 11 and 5, and her 1 and ½ year old baby girl. It would also provide her children with the ability live an enjoyable life.

Christmas Miracle #16

Brian and his family moved to Canada just over a year ago in search of a better life. Brian is having a hard time finding employment in his specialized field and after being laid off from the local convenience store, he relies on EI benefits that are about to run out.

It’s an ongoing struggle to support his family of five on his EI benefits, and is drowning in a vicious cycle of debt using his credit card to give his family the most basic care. Brian wants to go back to school so he can boost his education and hopefully find employment in his desired industry, but has faced several issues pulling together adequate funds to pay for tuition.

A Christmas miracle for Brian would include financial means to pay tuition once he’s accepted into the January enrollment at University, and ongoing support to take care of his family and pay off increasing debt.

Christmas Miracle #15

Ali and Noor emigrated from Pakistan almost 4 years ago. Ali is in school to further his education as an architect and Noor excels in mathematics. Together, they are doing the best to raise their 5 children here in Canada.
After the birth of her fifth child, Noor underwent gallbladder surgery and was diagnosed with kidney cancer. On top of this, Noor struggles with post-partum depression and Ali suffers depression from the stress of taking care of his family in a new country, with no job security. Two of their children are displaying symptoms of depression as well.

Noor’s upcoming kidney cancer is taking a toll, because it will create financial, emotional and physical stress on every family member. There are many uncertainties in ensuring the family is well taken care of, healthy, fed and that all the bills will be paid.

A Christmas miracle for Ali and Noor would include financial support to create long-term stability for their family to help take care of their basic needs and mental health.

Christmas Miracle #14

Katherine suffers from bipolar disorder and two autoimmune diseases. When she unexpectedly found out she was pregnant, she made the decision to walk away from her abusive partner and raise the baby on her own. The pregnancy came with complications, but she was able to safely deliver the baby and is now collecting the necessities to create a good life for her and her child.

A Christmas Miracle for Katherine would include support to obtain her driver’s license, financial support, and necessary items to provide a comfortable and safe environment for her baby at home.

Deb moved to Canada 4 years ago, after growing up in a country torn apart by war. She was 9 months pregnant and taking care of her 6 year old daughter, when she found out that her home was infested with bed bugs and had to throw out all her furniture and bedding. Eventually, she was forced to find a new place to live.

Deb currently holds a position as a Health Care Aide, but hopes to get into a nursing program at her local community college. On her own, Deb has been trying to get back on her feet and provide for her family. A Christmas Miracle would help her create a comfortable home for her children to grow up in, support in furthering her career and being able to visit her own family back home.

Vivian was two months pregnant when she had to call the police for help herself from a life-threatening relationship and living situation. Left all alone, Vivian found support through a local centre to raise her baby – who was born with medical complications from a difficult birth. At the age of one, Vivian’s daughter receives all her nutrition through tube feeding and they have to make frequent trips to Calgary for specialist appointments. Vivian, who manages her own struggles with sexual abuse, trauma, and Crohn’s disease, is doing her best to take care of her baby girl.

A Christmas Miracle for Vivian would be ongoing support in the uncertainty of her daughter’s future, and help in managing the costs to provide proper nutrition and specialist care for her as well.
